About Us
The Bridge Christian Centre is a Christian Fellowship belonging to the Assemblies of God Pentecostal movement. The Pentecostal Churches are recognised as the world's fastest growing movement within churches. We have been in Musselburgh for over 70 years, and moved into our present building in 1987. Why 'The Bridge' Christian Centre
Why 'The Bridge' Christian Centre? A Bridge is a means of crossing a gap, or river, or chasm. The Bible talks of a chasm, caused by our sin, that separates us from God, and stops us experiencing His love and peace. We do not claim to be able to Bridge that gap, but we do know the person who can be 'The Bridge' for you. His name is Jesus Christ. Jesus' life is historical fact. Jesus' death is historical fact. Jesus' rising from the dead is historical fact. That Jesus still lives today is a fact known and experienced by the members of The Bridge. They also know the peace and freedom Jesus can bring from the problems in society - finance, jobs, drugs, family and so on. Jesus can give us peace of mind and help us through these problems. The best thing though, is that Jesus can give us peace with God, and we can know Gods love personally. Anyone at The Bridge will be happy to tell you more about this. PRAISE AND WORSHIP PREACHING FAMILY BAPTISM COMMUNION As a 'Pentecostal' church we fully believe in the person, presence and work of God by the Holy Spirit. GIVING In response to the needs, not only in our own community, but worldwide we support missionaries in Europe. Pastor

A Brief History of The Bridge Christian Centre As far as we know there exist no record of the origin and history of the Assembly, and no dates are available for the actual moves from one place to the other.
The Allan & McArthur families held meetings in their homes and formed the basis of a new fellowship. Mr McArthur a businessman in Musselburgh provided a wooden hall on waste ground near the harbour in Musselburgh. The next move was to a basement in Bridge Street near the Hayweights Cinema. There were a number of different Pastors who looked after the little fellowship during this time. One of these was “James Wallace” who went on to become the Principal of the Bible School in Hampstead Heath which was the original AOG Bible School before he emigrated to Australia and became a prominent pastor in the AOG there. Mr R. McDonald a blacksmith, in the town then approached a contact of his to build another wooden hall on railway premises at Campie Road. This was quite an achievement for the small congregation, the project cost £100. The next move was from the wooden hall into the premises above the Prudential Offices at 41 Bridge Street. One of our now ‘older members is remembered to have said at the meeting for making the decision to move “so long as it is only temporary” we were there for 17 years! In 1986 the premises belonging to the St Andrews Congregation became available and the Assembly of God Congregation bought them and began to refurbish what was originally the Church hall. This was done on a voluntary basis and took approximation six months and on Christmas Eve of 1986 the Congregation moved in. At a Special Business Meeting called on the 7th February 1990 it was decided unanimously to go ahead with the next and final phase of the building project. To complete the main worship place and include facilities for a lounge, office and other rooms upstairs. On a Sunday about a month later an opportunity was given for the Congregation to give to a Special Offering. The congregation rose to the challenge and £12,500 was given and pledged. With this step of faith and help from the Assemblies of God Property Trust we have now arrived at the present situation. We believe in God that we have not ‘arrived’ but only stepped forward into another opportunity for further and wider ministry of taking the gospel to the people of Musselburgh.
